REFUGE CENTER

Inzo ya bana beto

We take great pride in our shelter for young single mothers and their children,
called “Inzo ya bana beto” or “home for our children” in the local language Kikongo.

We get young single mothers and their children off the street and give them a future. We are convinced that the best way to help a child is to help their mother. Both mother and child live in our shelter for several years under the watchful eye of foster mom Marie. The girls go back to school or we train them to be seamstresses in our sewing workshop until they can stand on their own two feet. Some moms have even moved on to college.

Without our support, their children would probably end up in an orphanage (or much worse) and lose all ties with their mother and family, a disaster in a country like Congo where family really forms the foundation of society.

Our house opened at the end of 2015. It can accommodate about 10 to 15 mothers and their children. We are not a big institution but want to be a warm family and a pillar of support for these young moms.

Please don't expect big words from us. We just help motivated, hardworking moms and their sweet children.
With trial and error, of course.

Meet our warm family. Several girls and children are still looking for a financial adoptive parent.
Would you like to help us help them build a bright future?
